Moving Bizman

Migrating Bizman software to a new computer is a straightforward process that involves two primary steps: installing Bizman on the new PC and transferring the Bizman database. Follow these instructions to ensure a smooth transition.

Prerequisites

Important: Before proceeding with the migration, ensure you maintain access to the original PC where your Bizman database is located. Bizman does not use cloud storage for databases, making it crucial to securely transfer your data before decommissioning the old PC.

Step 1: Install Bizman on the New PC

Install Bizman: Download and install the latest version of Bizman on the new PC. Update Bizman: After installation, check for and apply any available updates to ensure Bizman is up-to-date. Install Supplier Pack: Install the necessary supplier pack as you would during a fresh installation. Skip the license activation step if it has already been completed on the old PC.

Install Bizman

See Installation section on how to install bizman.

Step 2: Migrate the Database

Locate the Database on the Old PC: Navigate to C:\Bizman\BackEnd\ and locate the file named BMBack.accdb. This file contains your Bizman database. Transfer the Database: Copy BMBack.accdb from the old PC. Paste it into the same directory (C:\Bizman\BackEnd) on the new PC, replacing any existing database file.

Finalizing the Migration

Launch Bizman: Start Bizman on the new PC. Upon initial launch, you will be prompted to enter the 'owner' account password for security verification. Enter Owner Password: If you have not changed the default owner password, enter owner to gain access.

Important Notes

The database transfer is a critical step. Ensure you back up BMBack.accdb before moving it to avoid data loss. If you encounter any issues during installation or migration, consult the Bizman support documentation or contact customer support for assistance. By following these steps, you can seamlessly transition Bizman to a new PC without losing your data or configurations.

Clean Install

Make sure when installing Bizman on a new computer that Bizman isn't already installed. This will result in a bad installation as you will have some new components installed along side some old components.

Good practice is to go to C:\ drive and make sure there is no Bizman already there!
